For the last decade or so, I’ve called the unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səl̓ilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) peoples my home. The typical land acknowledgement refers to “living,” “working,” and “playing” in these regions, and I’m a living, breathing example of that. I live in Burnaby, which is firmly in the traditional lands of the səl̓ilwətaɬ. I work in Kitsilano, which is on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm land, and I spend summers climbing in and around Sḵwx̱wú7mesh. I’m truly thankful and grateful for where I live.

I’m a special education teacher and tutor for elementary and high school students, with a focus on the STEAM curriculum. My own education was through the University of Manitoba, where I got a degree in Biosystems Engineering, specializing in the environment.

In my off time, I’m generally climbing, cycling, or knee-deep in a video gaming obsession. Recently I’ve added birdwatching and photography to the list of interests. I try to read a little bit of everything, with a fiction, non-fiction, and book of poetry almost always on the go. My taste in music wanders but gravitates towards pop, folk, lo-fi and occasionally EDM.
